Dinah Cooper, RN, President and CEO, has been a nurse for 44 years with a strong background in critical care. She has experience in med/surg, general pediatrics, home health, surgery/orthopedics, adult ICU and, most extensively pediatric ICU. She was a pediatric ICU transport nurse for many years. She has been sharing her skills and knowledge as a preceptor at the various institutions she has worked for throughout her career. She has been teaching American Heart Association Programs since the mid 1980s. In fact, she was in the very first PALS Instructor Course in the US in 1988 and was instrumental in getting the PALS Program started in the KY/OH/WV tri-state area. She was recognized as Volunteer of the Year by the WV AHA for her outstanding efforts. She was also recognized as Nurse of the Year by both Cabell Huntington Hospital (associated with Marshall University) in Huntington, WV and Cincinnati Children's Hospital, Cincinnati, OH. Dinah makes learning fun and has a way of breaking down complex subjects making them meaningful to the learner and easy to retain. “I have personally taken classes taught by Dinah, as well as taught with her. Behind Dinah's down-home Kentucky accent and unabashed southern flair, lies a very canny clinician and educator! The passion she has for caring for sick and injured children and for helping others do the same is infectious and engaging to those taking her courses. She has the uncommon ability to translate materials so that participants can see how what she's teaching applies to them in their own practice settings. I wholeheartedly recommend Dinah as a talented educator, a tremendously experienced nurse-clinician and a passionate advocate not only for those seeking medical care but also for our colleagues providing that care."
“Dinah is truly the epitome of a great teacher. From complete beginners to seasoned colinicians, Dinah is able to teach in an inspirational and respectful manner. As an educator myself, I have used a number of Dinah's best-in-class techniques and readily share her methods with others as ideal exemplars..."
